Every mode in Anime Zero runs on four difficulties, picked in the lobby before you queue. The October 3 patch pinned down exactly how enemies scale — and the October 2 buff made the top difficulty pay accordingly.
The four difficulties
| Difficulty | Enemy HP | Enemy damage | Story payout (money / gems) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 0.85x | lower | 1,500 / 50 |
| Medium | 1.3x | higher | 3,000 / 100 |
| Hard | 1.6x | higher | 6,000 / 200 |
| Nightmare | 2x | higher | 15,000 / 350 |
Two rules apply on top of the table: enemies get tougher with more players in the party, and the HxH map spawns far more enemies on higher difficulties (40 on Easy up to 105 on Nightmare, plus the boss).
When each difficulty is worth it
- Easy — tutorial-adjacent. Payouts are poor; move up as soon as clears feel safe.
- Medium — the leveling workhorse while you build your first real kit (a Legendary weapon and a damage accessory).
- Hard — the material farming sweet spot: 4x the Easy payout with manageable pressure once your synergy pair is online.
- Nightmare — the economy ceiling: 10x Easy money and 7x its gems per run. Bring health (Luffy + Shanks) or a perfect-block game before queueing — enemies hit harder, not just tankier.
Nightmare notes
- The reported Miyabi title requires a sub-3-minute Nightmare clear with the final hit (community report — see the titles guide).
- Difficulty carries across chapters: the October 1 patch made the next chapter keep your selected difficulty instead of resetting.
