Pre-release gameplay footage and community reports agree on the core loop: every weapon ships with three skills, and its ultimate stays locked until you evolve the weapon. Evolution (EVO) is the step that turns a rolled weapon into a complete kit — here is everything known so far, with the usual caveat that the developer has not published a formal evolution doc.

What evolution does

Evolving a weapon unlocks its ultimate ability — the fourth, highest-impact skill in the moveset. Until you evolve, you are fighting with three skills only, which is why evolution is the first big power gate after rolling a weapon you want to main.

Evolution materials

Evolution consumes weapon-specific materials. The confirmed example: Sukuna evolves with Sukuna Fingers, which drop from dungeon runs. Two practical notes:

  • The queue screen shows material drop rates before you start a run — check which act or mode feeds your evolution material before grinding blindly.
  • The material pity system guarantees the item after 5 runs without a drop.

Where every weapon’s evolution material drops is not fully documented yet. We are tracking it per weapon — the in-game drop preview is the most reliable source while we verify.

How many evolutions are there?

Players have reported evolving a weapon and seeing another evolution prompt after — community helpers answer that there is no second evolution in the current build (“there is no more evo”). Treat evolution as a single step per weapon for now; if Update 1 adds deeper evolution tiers, we will update this page the day it lands.

Why can’t I evolve my weapon?

The most common report is a weapon showing an evolution that can’t be triggered (Cursed King is the recurring example in the official Discord). This usually means the required materials aren’t in your inventory yet — the evolution menu does not always spell out the missing item clearly. Check your materials against the recipe before assuming the weapon is bugged.

Evo checklist

  1. Roll a weapon worth evolving (Mythic or above — see the rarity and pity guide).
  2. Farm its evolution material in the mode/act that drops it (check drop rates in the queue screen).
  3. Evolve to unlock the ultimate, then pair it for a synergy bonus.
